Junior Chef of the Year
Since 2016, City Catering have run the Junior Chef of the Year competition in Stoke-on-Trent. The aim of the competition is to inspire young people to have an interest and a passion for food.
Each year, Key Stage 2 pupils are invited to enter and asked to produce a savoury dish for four people that can be prepared, cooked and served in 60 minutes. Recipes are judged on taste, texture, appearance, creativity and the use of local ingredients. Pupils are asked to think about using produce that is in season and the nutritional balance of the dish, while working to a budget. Cook Off sessions are run over three days with the winners from each session going forward to the final day where the overall winner will be announced.
In 2019, We were delighted to hear that the winner of the competition was our very own Archie Fowell and his incredible Hill Chicken Wraps.
